Pilot assistance

The SII Research Pilot Assistance Project is an innovative mobile application intended to provide assistance to private pilots practicing visual flight. The application replaces the paper version used until now and helps pilots plan and track their flight.

Summary

The flight assistance application offers a range of features to help pilots plan their route, simulate their route before flight and track their flight in real time using visual cues on the ground, while avoiding areas prohibited from overflight. As a UX/UI designer, my role was to design a complete interface that improves flight preparation for pilots, while providing a safer and more enjoyable flight experience.

Role

Design of the entire application

My mission was to design the entire application, ensuring a friendly user experience for private pilots who were used to preparing their entire flight on paper.

Assistance in preparing the pilot's itinerary and flight

I helped design a feature that allows pilots to plan their route, including full route simulation before flight for better preparation. The application also supported calculations of fuel requirements, based on the weight of the aircraft, baggage, passengers, etc.

Real-time flight tracking

I developed a real-time tracking functionality, with icons representing visual landmarks on the ground and no-fly zones for more precise navigation.

Creating Custom SVG Icons

I created custom SVG icons to enrich the user interface and make navigation more intuitive.

Mockups of an additional application for passengers

In addition to the application for pilots, I also developed mockups for a complementary application intended for airplane passengers, allowing them to discover centers of interest through the window thanks to augmented reality.

Conclusion

The provided user interface enhances the safety and enjoyment of flying by offering advanced features such as route planning, fuel requirement calculation, flight simulation and real-time tracking. I also contributed to an additional application for passengers, offering a more enriching flight experience thanks to augmented reality.
